The 4 Pillars of Responsibility
At Sparks Egg Farms we respect 4 pillars of responsibility, all equally important.
- Human health and welfare
- Animal welfare
- Food safety
Respect for the welfare and safety for our employees has always been a high priority at Sparks. We take steps to make sure that employees have superior training, and that processes are in place to ensure there is no risk to health and safety.
Care and respect in the handling of animals is at the core of all that we do. We accomplish this on many levels, beginning with the provision of comfort, secure shelter, quality food, clean water, and diligent veterinary care.
We regularly engage with industry experts to guarantee that we are on top of the latest science-based research. Careful monitoring and open dialogue with supply partners is fundamental to our success and we are are fortunate to have built strong relationships with farmers and business partners that we trust and respect.
We're particularly diligent in monitoring our feed producers to ensure there's no risk of introducing health risks to our hens. From the feeding of hens to the handling of eggs, our processes are designed to ensure that food safety is paramount.
Looking beyond our operation, Sparks Egg Farms is also conscious of the importance to make sure that our environmental footprint is small. Throughout our operations we minimize waste and the draw on energy resources, and maximize recycling efforts. The Severson Free Run Barn that we opened in 2011 south of Westlock, Alberta, is a model of eco-friendly innovation in construction and systems design.
As Sparks Egg Farms continues to evolve and grow, we never lose sight of these 4 pillars that define us.
