Sparks Egg Grading Station
The Sparks Egg Grading Station is the only independent egg grader and processor operating solely in Alberta, and handles approximately 50% of Alberta's egg production, processing eggs from more than 70 Alberta egg producers - ranging from small farms to large layer barns such as our Severson Free Run Barn.
Grading, Packaging & Storage of Sparks Eggs
On behalf of the producers we represent, Sparks sorts and grades their eggs, packages them into their custom cartons and then distributes the eggs to grocery store chains, the foodservice industry and commercial customers.
Our facility for production, grading, packaging, marketing and storage is approximately 37,000 square feet. Processing and packaging is handled by state-of-the-art grading equipment at speeds of 250 to 400 cases - 7,500 to 9,000 dozen eggs - per hour. Well in excess of one million eggs per day!
We process every kind of egg that you find on grocery shelves - brown eggs, white eggs; hens raised in standard or enriched coops; hens raised in free run or free range environments; specialty eggs such as Organic, Omega 3 and Vitamin D, and more.
